Are garments (such as old Hypercolor T-shirts) that used crystal violet lactone dye, a PCB,…dangerous? ?

Question by Anonymous: Are garments (such as old Hypercolor T-shirts) that used crystal violet lactone dye, a PCB,…dangerous? ?
I read that PCBs were hazardous to human health. If the dye in garments or carbonless copy paper was made from crystal violet lactone dyes, what would happen to the person who came into contact with the substance? Are the shirts dangerous to wear, as PCBs can be absorbed into the skin? What about items that were stored with the garments that contained the dye? Safe or unsafe? Ideas?

I think you are confuse with PCBs and crystal violet lactone. PCBs are use as the transfer agent in other words the paper itself. Therefore, PCBs is found only in carbonless copy paper. The crystal violet dye is not a PCBs just a dye. Therefore, you need not worry about the crystal violet lactone dye.

Hopefully this helps :)
