Q&A: Getting red dye that bled off in wash off of powder blue velour?
Question by makena92504: Getting red dye that bled off in wash off of powder blue velour?
I washed a load of clothes and a pair of my daughters red fleece pajamas bled onto a pair of her powder blue velour sweat pants. It looks like pink stains. What is the best way to treat the garment to get the dye that bled onto the velour pants off? Thanks! If it was white, I could bleach it…

Wash it again with color safe bleach. You may need to do it a few times, but do not dry in the dryer until the excess color is out.

How to properly wash tie dye?
Question by : How to properly wash tie dye?
Yesterday at 2 pm I tie dyed 2 60% cotton pillowcases. I followed the instructions for tye dying on my Tulip tye dye kit. I would just read the instructions for washing that they give you but I can’t mine. So my pillowcases have been sitting wrapped for 17 hours. ( is that to long?) Anyway how do I properly wash my tye dye because I don’t want it fading. Please help & only answer if you have done tie dye washing before !!!

It should be good… You just have to wash them now. I would wash each one separately so they don’t run into each other and I’d wash them each twice before you actually use them. They will fade a little. You can’t stop that.

Q&A: Can you wash tie dye shirts together?
Question by Ann.: Can you wash tie dye shirts together?
My sisters and I made tie dye shirts yesterday using the Jacquard kit. They’ve been sitting for 17-18 hours and we couldn’t wait longer even if the instructions said preferably 24 hours. We rinsed them with hot water till most the water didn’t contain color like the steps stated and wrung out the rest of the water. Is it okay to wash the three shirts together or separately?

I have used regular household apple cider vinager to set the dye in swinsuits before. Just put some in a bowl and let the shirts sit for a few minutes and then dry them. The smell won’t last long and after they are dry(the heat from the dryer will also help set the dye) you can wash them if you need to.
