3-Wetting Agent
thank you

Best answer:

Answer by DrHenry
You need to start with the major companies Ciba, Dystar, and Clariant with that wide a list. Organic Dyestuffs will have the dyes. There are no major suppliers in KY. If your friend is overseas, he is going to need to obtain these from there. US locations are just going to refer you to their offices off shore. If he wants cheap, he should be looking at Chinese and Indian suppliers. The above companies have a presence overseas also. For you to buy them and ship them would be very expensive to get all the required export and import licenses. The chemicals urea, soda ash, etc would need to be provided locally. You also don’t have salt on the list for reactive dyes.

The reference will also give you links to other potential sources.

Best answer:

Answer by Broken and Incomplete
Okay, you put the stuff into a bucket then dunk a dry tee shirt in, then you let it soak for a little bit and pull it out. Then you do whatever. But you don’t need to wet the tee shirt. In fact, you shouldn’t because then the dye won’t soak in well.

I bought some hemp dyed with indigo made by the H’mong people of northern Vietnam. I want to be able to wear it and wash it without the colour bleeding onto the white embroidered sections of the garment, and without the whole thing fading too much. Can I use a chemical fixative?

Question by Allisonツ☮: How Do You Make Easy Tie-Dye Shirts ?
i need a purple tie-dye shirt for monday and don’t know how to do it ?
what do i need to make one and how do i make it?
i already have a white t-shirt

Best answer:

Answer by Jennifer H
Go to your local craft store or even the walmart craft section, look for RIT dye…you should have no problem finding purple. you will want to follow the directions on the box (i don’t remember them of hand)
You are also going to need some rubber bands. Lay your shirt out flat. Pinch the fabric in the middle front of the shirt and twist. Keep twisting. You want to kind of twist the whole shirt. you can start adding rubber bands at any point…the more tight twists and folds in the fabric and the more rubber bands you use the more white pattern will be visible in the end product shirt. I mean really you cant mess it up. lol, every shirt is different!! Good luck and have fun dyeing!!!

Question by blastradii: What type of screen print is on that shirt?
I’ve seen various prints on tshirts. Some are thick and glossy, some are not too thick, and some are so thin they feel like they were dyed.

What are the different types of printing techniques / inks used for garments? Anyone recommend a good book on this subject?

Thanks.

Best answer:

Answer by mischiefinthemoonlight
There are two main types of ink that are used for textile printing. Water-based ink utilizes either dyes or pigments in a suspension with water as the solvent. The evaporation of the water is necessary to set or cure the ink. This curing can take place either at room temperature or using a forced-air dryer depending upon the specific water-based ink used and the speed or volume of production. Both types of ink are very popular. However, for the most part, they are used in very different applications. Plastisol is the ink of choice for printing of finished goods such as T-shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, and tote bags. Water-based ink is the ink of choice for the printing of yard goods; either in piece form or on the roll. Both inks have technical advantages and disadvantages for use in specific applications. They also each have their own environmental impacts and these should be considered for the particular application and shop setup.
